Managing Director

Charles Smedmor
CPA, CA, CFE

Charles Smedmor is a Chartered Professional Accountant; a Chartered Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, and is Certified in Financial Forensics.

He has over thirty years of extensive experience in this field, both in Canada and internationally.

Charles has qualified and testified as an expert witness in the Ontario courts.

He is also, on a reciprocal basis, a Senior Associate with Athena Koros, CPA, CMA in Nova Scotia.

Charles has also authored articles on fraud in international business, due diligence topics, and money laundering.

He also taught at Seneca College's Fraud Examination and Forensic Accounting program.

Staff Analyst

Alexandre Riccardi

Alex Riccardi began as a staff intern at Smedmor & Associates, deploying his skills in litigation and forensic accounting.

Alex came to Smedmor and Associates with academic experience at Bocconi University in Milan (Bachelor of Science in International Economics and Management) and so with his exchange semester at the Schulich School of Business, York University.

That education, coupled with practical experience at PwC France and BNP Paribas have made him a valuable team member. He has developed and prepared analytical spreadsheets, undertaken document reviews, and completed a range of other duties,

Alex Riccardi is now a staff analyst.

Senior Associate

Athena Koros
CPA, CMA

Athena Koros, the Managing Director of Athena Koros, CPA, CMA, is a Senior Associate, on a reciprocal basis, at Smedmor and Associates. Her practice is based in Nova Scotia.

Graduating in 2018, Athena is one of the first graduates from the University of Toronto’s distinguished Master of Forensic Accounting Program (MFAcc).

Athena’s area of specialization is white-collar crime and due diligence. She has practiced accounting in the private and public sectors for over 25 years.

Athena’s experience is extensive.

It includes family matters, health care, hospitality, human resources, not-for-profits, private care facilities, property management, real estate, and transportation.
